Travelogue 13A : “Beyond the Falls: Banking, Technology, and the Spirit of Zimbabwe”

Last week, I had the privilege of visiting Zimbabwe – my 8th country in Africa and the 68th globally. This trip was special. For the last couple of years, we have been building a meaningful presence in Zimbabwe, and I was eager to see firsthand the progress, the people, and the promise of this nation.

The journey began modestly. The flight, the airport, and even the hotel in Harare reminded me of a Tier-2 Indian city from two decades ago. But what unfolded the next day completely changed my perspective.

I had the honor of meeting 10 CEOs of Zimbabwe’s leading banks. They were proud, articulate, and deeply committed to leveraging technology to shape the country’s financial future. Hearing their vision and seeing the tangible impact of our solutions left me both humbled and inspired.

I have always believed that technology must be purpose-driven, and in Zimbabwe, this belief found resonance. We conducted a masterclass on AI for the banking fraternity – with over 60 senior executives actively engaging and contributing. The energy in that room reaffirmed that the future belongs to those who combine innovation with intent.

Beyond boardrooms, I also had the privilege of meeting the families of our colleagues based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Listening to their stories, I gained a deeper appreciation of the challenges they embrace and the opportunities they create with quiet resilience. Their pioneering spirit – and the support of their families – is the true foundation of our success. For that, I remain profoundly grateful : Rajiv Manchanda,Sourav Gopal Jha & Vishal Singh.

Having come so far, I decided to continue my journey to Victoria Falls – one of the world’s seven natural wonders. I’ll share that experience in my next article.
Leaving you with glimpses from this journey – of leaders, colleagues, and moments that will stay with me for a long time.

Zimbabwe reinforced for me that when ” technology serves a purpose, it doesn’t just transform industries – it transforms lives.”

Leaving a few pictures of the trip.
